Finding balance as a mom through fitness, self-care and slow living

How to Find Balance as a Mom (Realistic Daily Routine for Busy Moms)

There was a time when taking just 10 minutes for myself felt like a luxury I couldn’t afford. Finding balance as a mom doesn’t come with rules or routines — it comes with patience, self-kindness, and small daily choices.
Between managing daily responsibilities, caring for my family, and navigating motherhood, fitness, calm, and self-care always felt important — yet somehow impossible to fit in.

It would be wrong to say that I didn’t have any support when I became a mother. My husband and my in-laws were always there to help. And yet, managing everything and finding balance as a mom at once still felt overwhelming.

Because the truth is — no one is ever fully prepared for motherhood. Mom life comes without experience or instructions. Juggling the responsibilities of learning how to be a mother, embracing this new phase of life, getting back into fitness, and taking care of yourself is never easy.

I know many of you must have felt the same way.

I often felt tired, both physically and mentally, yet I kept telling myself that I would start taking care of myself later. And that’s exactly what most of us do. In the process of taking care of everyone else, we slowly forget ourselves. As moms, we make everyone and everything else a priority — except our own well-being.

That’s when I truly understood how important it is to find balance as a mom in life. I used to feel guilty whenever I did something for myself — and I know I’m not alone in feeling this way. But over time, I realized there is nothing wrong with choosing yourself.

In fact, it’s necessary.

Creating balance for me meant finding space where I could move my body, take care of myself, and enjoy a little me-time — without guilt. And that changed everything.

What Does Balance Mean to Me Today?

When we talk about finding balance as a mom in life, most of us mistake it for being perfect. That’s exactly how I used to feel — constantly trying to achieve some ideal version of myself.

But in the process of chasing perfection, I was losing myself even more. I felt disconnected from my own body and mind. The stubborn mommy pooch, uncombed hair for days, constant sleep deprivation — all of it started overpowering everything else and deeply impacted how I felt every single day.

After chasing perfection and failing at it — badly — I finally understood something important: this is not what balance means for a mom.

Balance is never about being perfect.

Today, balance means allowing life to be exactly what it is. Some days are chaotic. Some days are calm. Some days, balance looks like a good workout. Other days, it’s simply sitting quietly and reading a good book. And all of it is okay.

Some days I still slip back into old habits — and I remind myself that balance is something I’m learning, not mastering.

Achieving everything at once is not the goal. Finding your own balance is.

So I stopped chasing perfect routines and started choosing what felt doable in the moment. And that small shift made a big difference.

What Will You Find Here?

Fitness That Fits Into Real Life

When we talk about fitness, most of us think it’s only possible by going to the gym. And as moms, we all know how difficult that can be.
Here, I’ll talk about how fitness can be achieved even from home.

It’s not about working out for hours. It’s about showing up for yourself — even 15 minutes a day is enough. You can start with something as simple as a brisk walk, and with consistency, slowly add home workouts.

Postpartum can be challenging, and many of us are still navigating that stubborn mommy pooch. We’ll talk about all of this honestly and realistically in this space.

Mental Calm & Slowing Down

Yes — slowing down. Something we often don’t take seriously, but it’s just as important as physical fitness.

As moms, we carry a lot of mental load. From managing our homes to work and motherhood, the stress can be overwhelming. That’s why creating space for mental calm, slowing down, and simply rewinding is essential for balance.

Managing Toddler + Self-Care

Of course, me-time & self-care has a place here — because it’s something we all crave.

Those quiet moments that are just for us: soft music, a favourite book, and a simple skincare or haircare routine. It’s important to remember that to take care of others, we must first take care of ourselves.

Some days, my self-care is as simple as applying my skincare in silence after everyone has gone to sleep — and that’s enough.

Motherhood & Shared Experiences

Motherhood is beautiful, but it can also feel overwhelming, lonely, and confusing — especially on days when no one talks about the hard parts. In this space, I want to share my experiences as a mom, not as an expert, but as someone who is still learning every single day.

From the small wins to the exhausting days, this is a place where we talk honestly about motherhood. Because when we share our stories, we realise we’re not alone — and sometimes, that itself brings comfort.

No Pressure, No Perfection

This blog is not about doing everything right or having it all figured out. There is no pressure to follow strict routines or become a “better” version overnight.

Here, progress matters more than perfection. Some days you’ll show up fully, some days you won’t — and both are okay. The goal is not to be perfect but to be gentle with yourself while finding your own version of balance.

Conclusion

If you’re a mom trying to feel fit, calm, and a little more like yourself again — you’re not behind. You’re human. Balance doesn’t look the same every day, and it doesn’t have to. Some days will feel overwhelming, some days will feel calm, and many days will fall somewhere in between — and all of it is valid.

The Everyday Balance is a space where we grow together, support each other, and remind ourselves that choosing ourselves, even in small ways, matters. One day, one routine, one moment at a time.
